Noise Awareness (Occupational & Environmental)
Description
This one day course is aimed at participants who want to gain a better knowledge about:
- Occupational Noise, what impact it has on human health and hearing and how we measure it. If practical in-depth knowledge on surveying noise in the workplace , its evaluation and management is required then you need to attend both the Noise Awareness course and the Occupational Noise Training Course. The courses are tailored to meet statutory legislative requirements.
- Environmental Noise, how it impacts on humans, communities and how we measure it. If practical in-depth knowledge on assessing environmental noise, its evaluation and management is required you need to attend both the Noise Awareness Course and the Environmental Noise Training Course. The courses are tailored to meet statutory legislative requirements.
Material that will be covered in this course include:
- The hearing mechanism
- Noise induced hearing loss
- Hearing protectors and their correct selection and use
- Community noise
- Health effects associated with the exposure to noise
- Fundamentals of sound
- How noise is measured
- Overview of Environmental Protection legislation relating to noise
- Overview of Health & Safety legislation relating to occupational noise
